On October 6th, 2015, we welcomed a little girl into our lives.
It’s been two months since Little B made her grand entrance into the big wide world (read my birth story) and already I feel I’ve learned a life-time of tips and tricks! It’s crazy how your mind and body can adapt to a little human suddenly running your life. You get used to the no-longer long sleeps and can magically get by on sometimes three or four hours. For someone who was used to nine hour stretches – this is one of the things I struggled to come to terms with in the beginning.
I don’t feel different, but then in some ways, I do. It’s surreal looking into her eyes and thinking ‘oh man, you were growing inside me at one point…’ This sweet innocent little baby looking at you – realizing that you’re their whole world. It’s scary and wonderful all at once.
Little B has grown so much in the past few weeks. She’s gone from tiny baby (5×0) clothes to just fitting into 0-3 month clothes this past week – although she still fits some of her newborn onsies. At her last checkup she had put on at least 3kgs (that was two weeks ago!!). She took to bottles like a duck to water and easily switches between them and the breast. She’s smiling and cooing and even squeals when we pinch her chubby cheeks (so cute!). She’s almost learned to self-settle – which is a huge relief for my back which was getting very sore from rocking and patting her to sleep every time!
We can’t get over how beautiful she is. She’s a good looking kid. I think we got it pretty easy with this one (compared to some of the stories I’ve heard!). My mum told me that how they are at 3-4 weeks is usually what they’ll stay like. She’s happy, content and a bit of a thinker. If that continues through her life, I’ve got no problem with it.
